Old World Recipes, New World Love: Inside Dino’s Kitchen
Welcome to Vigneto Café
Where Passion, Family, and Tradition Come Together
My name is Dino Gjokaj, and my journey in the culinary world began early — washing dishes, cleaning kitchens, and learning the fundamentals of restaurant life from the ground up. Over time, I mastered each step of the process, eventually discovering my true calling: cooking. 1987 By the age of 18, I opened my first pizzeria in Europe, which later grew into a full-service restaurant in Germany — still proudly owned and operated by my brothers to this day.
In 2010, I brought that same spirit and dedication to Highland, New York, where I founded Vigneto Café — a restaurant built on tradition, integrity, and a lifelong love of food.
At Vigneto Café, we take pride in doing things the right way. Every dish is made from scratch using fresh, locally sourced ingredients. We personally select everything that goes into our kitchen, ensuring quality, seasonality, and flavor in every bite. Our menu is inspired by generations of family recipes, especially those passed down from my mother — honest, comforting Italian food, crafted with care.
This is more than a business — it’s our way of life. Vigneto Café is a true family-run restaurant. My wife, son, and nephew are all part of our daily operations, and together we’re committed to creating a warm, welcoming experience for every guest.
We’re proud to be a part of the Highland community and to welcome guests from across Dutchess, Ulster, and Orange counties. Many first find us while exploring the nearby Walkway Over the Hudson — and return again and again.
Thank you for being a part of our journey. We look forward to welcoming you with the flavors, hospitality, and heart that define Vigneto Café.
